Advanced Modules B

 

 

Subsequent to module A, SIFC-students have to complete 2 advanced modules B with 30 ECTS credits each.

Module B1/B5 at BOKU

Module B1 (with a minimum of 15 ECTS) is held at the University for Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) every summer semester and mainly focuses on the topics of

  • Food Chemistry/Hygiene
  • Food Processing
  • Special Food Safety Issues on various topics
  • Food Safety Seminars on various topics

Module B5 (with a minimum of 3 ECTS) is designed by the University Ljubljana in summer semesters. Courses on Rapid Methods in Food Microbiology and Biomarkers in Food Characterisation are held in cooperation with module B1 at BOKU, therefore, it is referred to as module B1/B5.

Module B2 at SCIENCE

Module B2 (with a minimum of 30 ECTS) is held at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Sciences (SCIENCE), in winter semesters and specialises on topics such as:

  • Sanitation
  • Food production in the context of micro organism in food

Courses at SCIENCE

 

Module B3 at WUR

At  Wageningen University (WUR) module B3 (with a minimum of 30 ECTS) is held in winter or summer semesters. It focuses on:

  • Risk Communication
  • Epidemiology and Public Health
  • Gene Technology
  • Predictive Modeling

The courses for MODULE B3 are agreed on individually with every student and the program-coordinator via the "learning agreement".

Courses at WUR

Module B4 at UHOH

The University of Hohenheim (UHOH) offers courses for module B4. These courses  mainly focus on topics like:

  • Nutrient/Gene Interaction
  • Global Nutrition
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • Safety in Agriculture and Organic Farming

Courses at UHOH

 

Module B6 at CZU

The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague(CZU) offers courses for module B6. The courses mainly focus on primary production like:

  • Soil Conservation and Protection (6 ECTS)
  • Diseases of Crops of Temperate Climate (5 ECTS)
  • Aquaculture (5 ECTS)
  • Experimental Design and Statistics (5 ECTS)
  • Poultry Management (5 ECTS)
  • Milk and Dairy Products Quality and Processing (6 ECTS)
  • Environment Pollution and Remediation (6 ECTS)
  • Management of Reproduction in Livestock (6 ECTS)
  • Agricultural Water Management (6 ECTS)
