Food safety has become an issue of crucial importance to public health. Due to both structural and organisational changes there is an urgent need for a new interdisciplinary field beside already existing food and agricultural sciences or veterinary and human medicine. This new special field has to cover all issues related to food safety to food safety and food safety management dealing on both national and international level.

SIFC graduates will get a degree from their alma mater as well as a special, European SIFC-degree from the ELLS universities.

The MSc "Safety in the Food Chain" is designed to prepare graduates for a career as:

  • food safety manager,
  • food/process designer,
  • researcher (on an applied and fundamental level),
  • policy maker, or in
  • food legislation .

Graduates can find jobs in the food and retail industry, at research institutes and public organisations or with food safety authorities in Europe or elsewhere.
